What People are Saying about the YSO

Following the YSO's collaboration with Sphinx Music in October 2007, Sphinx Executive Director Tania McGee wrote:

"Bravo to you on your drive, initiative and good will in reaching out and finding ways to collaborate with partners... We think of our collaboration with the Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra with respect, fondness and pride, particularly, because of the sincere care and thought you have put into the work that you do."

The YSO’s season opening concert on October 28th was a rousing success, featuring the talents of 2007 Sphinx Competition winner Elena Urioste. Ms. Urioste delivered a brilliant performance of the Bruch “Violin Concerto in g minor,” accompanied by the Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra.

The Sphinx Organization’s mission is nurture promote classical music among Blacks and Latinos. Their annual Sphinx Competition attracts some of the nation’s most talented young musicians. The YSO is delighted to welcome Sphinx as a new artistic partner, and looks forward to many more collaborative efforts with this fine organization in the future.

Supporters of the arts in Ypsilanti enjoyed the Valentine's Day joint benefit for the YSO/RAC held at the Riverside Arts Center gallery on February 10th. Attendees were treated to good food, good art and good music (courtesty of guest keyboard/vocalist, YSO Music Director Adam Riccinto). The YSO and the RAC hope this will be the first of many joint events.
